Abstract

Interactivity in transport protocol can greatly benefittransport friendly applications. We envision if a transportmechanism, which is interactive and can provide eventnotification about network state to the subscriber of itscommunication service, than a wide range of solution tomany of today's hard network problem can be instituted.Recently we have implemented this concept system as anew TCP kernel on FreeBSD called TCP Interactive anda novel symbiotic MPEG-2 full logic transcoder. In thispaper we share the results of the TCP Interactiveperformance experiment and show potential dramaticimprovement in time-bounded video delivery.
