In recent years, Bluetooth has become very popularowing to the fact that it is a promising ad-hoc networkingtechnology for short ranges. Although construction andoperation of piconets is well defined in Bluetoothspecifications, there is no unique standard for scatternetformation and operation. In this paper, we propose a distributed BluetoothScatternet Formation algorithm based on Device andLink characteristics (SF-DeviL). SF-Devil handles energyefficiency using class of devices and the received signalstrength. SF-DeviL forms scatternets that are robust toposition changes and battery depletions.
