Mobile IPv6 protocols are a retrofit of mobility onto thenext generation Internet(IPv6) protocols. Many of the originalIPv6 protocols have inbuilt timing mechanisms whichaim at ensuring fairness of access to media and signallingefficiency. The effect of these timers on Mobile IPv6 traffichas been found to signifcantly affect application traffic onthese networks. One proposal to remove unnecessary timers in NeighborDiscovery is called Fast Router Advertisement (FastRA).This paper presents performance comparisons of FastRAwith unmodified Neighbor Discovery in Mobile IPv6 environments.
