Abstract

In this paper, we propose a number of QoS differentiationmechanisms for heterogeneous wireless networks and the next-generationInternet. We propose distributed differentiated scheduling and prioritized ki-arycountdown for differentiated channel access in mobile ad hoc networksand multihop wireless LANs. We also propose a differentiated backoff controlscheme for distributed flow control and DiffServ supports in ad hoc networks.The proposed mechanisms have considerably stronger differentiationcapability as compared to IEEE 802.11e.
