This paper proposes a new on-demand multi-path routingprotocol considering path redundancy as one of routeselection criteria. Path redundancy implies how manypossible redundant paths may exist on a route to be built up.Our proposal aims to establish a route that contains moreredundant paths toward the destination by involvingintermediate nodes with relatively mode adjacent nodes in apossible route. Our approach can localize the effects ofroute failures, and reduce control traffic overhead and routereconfiguration time by enhancing the reachability to thedestination node without source-initiated route re-discoveriesat route failures. We have evaluated theperformance of our routing scheme through a series ofsimulations using the Network Simulator 2 (ns-2).
