In this paper, we examined the influence of captureeffect with L-fold antenna diversity at the Access Pointover IEEE 802.11b DCF at 11 Mbit/s. We were able toobtain an exact closed-form solution for the conditionalcapture probability in case of L-fold ideal selectiondiversity, and an approximate closed-form solution for theconditional capture probability in case of L-fold maximumselection diversity in Rayleigh-faded channel. By usingnumerical integration, we calculated total frame captureprobability vs. number of contending stations and captureratio, and then analytically evaluated network saturationthroughput of a single IEEE 802.11 BSS operating inBasic or RTS/CTS access methods.
