Abstract

Many Layered Multicast (LM) congestion controlschemes have been proposed to serve different userswith heterogeneous bandwidth requirements. Most ofthe LM algorithms suffer from a large IGMP leavelatency and a sudden rate increase. LayeredIncrease/Decrease with Dynamic Layering (FLID-DL)was introduced to address these challenges.Nevertheless, FLID-DL can neither provide very goodbandwidth fairness with TCP nor wor well in thewireless environment with link loss. We propose theExtended FLID-DL (E-FLID-DL), by incorporatingExplicit Congestion Notification (ECN) into FLID-DL,to address these issues. E-FLID-DL not only improvesbandwidth fairness with TCP, but also provides highthroughput in a lossy networ environment.
