Abstract

TACWeb (TAC images on the Web), is a web-basedGrid Portal, developed at the CACT/ISUFI laboratoryof the University of Lecce for the management ofbiomedical images in a distributed environment.TACWeb, building on top of the Globus Toolkit, is aninteractive environment that deal with complex user'srequests, regarding the acquisition of biomedicaldata, the "processing" and "delivering" ofbiomedical image, using the power and security ofcomputational grids. Recently, Grid technologie arebeing integrated with Web Service technologies toprovide a framework for interoperable application-to-application interaction. In this paper we present an evolution of theTACWeb architecture that is compliant with the WebService approach and it main functionalitie. Insuch a system, the basic capabilities are encapsulatedand exposed as Web Services allowing thedevelopment of new health applications as acomposition of such services.
