Abstract

As mobile devices become more powerful andcommon there will a greater capacity and need for morecomplex interactions between mobile deice-residentsoftware and other server-based software. This can betermed mobile application integration.Mobile computingintroduces new opportunities and challenges for applicationintegration. Some of the challenges include small devicesize, limited bandwidth, limited processing power and lackof integration protocol support.Ad-hoc networks are thosethat can be formed temporarily while particular devices arein the vicinity of each other and ad-hoc mobile applicationintegration refers to the temporary integration of softwaremodules across devices while such a network exists.Thiscase poses even greater challenges for integration such asdynamically chaning combinations of platforms to beintegrated across and a requirement for integration to occurdynamically. This paper proposed a novel Web Services-based system that allows such dynamic and temporaryintegration to occur in ad-hoc mobile networks.
