Abstract

In this paper, we propose a new multicast routingprotocol, named hierarchy-based multicast protocol(HMP), for multi-hop mobile ad-hoc networks.First, weselect a set of nodes, where each is a root node, calledcore, of a constructed local share tree for connectingparts of neighborhood destinations.Based on these localshared trees, the HMP will be executed on two stages: thefirst stage, reactive stage, source host forwards sourcemessages to the set of core nodes of those local sharedtrees using on-demand routing. The second stage is thateach core node forwards the source messages todestination nodes along its corresponding constructedlocal shared tree. Finally, we show the performance thatour proposed scheme outperforms the reactive andproactive multicast protocols existed in mobile ad-hocnetworks.
