Nested transaction models have been widelyadopted in many advanced database applications, such as telecommunications and real-time trafficinformation systems. However, noticeable studiesfocus on scheduling flat transactions for the currentresearch of distributed real-time database systems(RTDBS). This paper presents an efficient real-timescheduler consisting of (1) a priority assignmentpolicy called FHRN to schedule real-time nestedtransactions, and (2) a lock mechanism called2PL-HPN to resolve the data conflict problemamong nested transactions for distributed RTDBSusing nested transaction models. The simulationresult shows that the FHRN outperforms currentpriority assignment policies such as ED, HV andHRU.
