Abstract

A new optimization technique, the GeneticAnnealing Algorithm (GAA), is proposed in this paperto solve the task matching and scheduling problem ina heterogeneous computing system. The GAA is simplein design; it employs only the stir operation, a novelidea with the annealing concept, to locate optimalsolutions. Experimental evaluation shows thatcompared with the Genetic Algorithm, SimulatedAnnealing and Guided Evolutionary SimulatedAnnealing approaches, the GAA yields constantlyfavorable performance in terms of speedup, runningtime, cost and complexity.
