Abstract

In this paper, we propose the B-ZBSR (Bandwidth - Zone Bandwidth to Space Ratio) Scheme, which efficiently utilizes the resources of the storage subsystem in the heterogeneous MZR (Multi Zone Recording) disks. This scheme can improve load balancing among heterogeneous disks because the video blocks are placed according to the weight based on the bandwidth differences of each disk, as well as the ZBSR of each zone. As a result, this improved load balancing is able to increase the number of concurrent users. The simulation results showed that the B-ZBSR could achieve better load balancing in proportion to the average bandwidth of each disk than previous schemes could.
