Abstract

The author, a confirmed formal methodist, while not abandoning his adherence to this "religion," concedes that formal methods alone will not save the day, and that a number of other approaches have been, must be, and will continue to be, of relevance in the development of safetycritical systems. These, however, are not incongruous or antithetical to the application of formal methods.
