Abstract

This paper presents an overview of the Models,Programming Paradigms and Software Tools needed for anintegrated network (wired and wireless) computingenvironment that can support electronic Commerce. Inparticular, we consider the role of various interactivedistributed computing models (client server-CS, code ondemand -COD, remote evaluation- REV, and mobile agents- MA, and three-tier system- TTS), different logical modesof programming (Imperative, declarative, subjunctive andabductive), transaction and workflow models (that relaxatomicity, consistency, isolation, duarbility andserializability properties), new protocols and software tools(PJava/JDBC/ CORBA products) that are needed.
