Abstract

The large and growing number of PDAs, tablet computers, JavaPhones, and other small footprint devices are a tempting target for deployment of multiagent systems (MAS). In this paper we describe previous and ongoing efforts to develop Cougaar MicroEdition (CougaarME), a scaled down version of the DARPA Cougaar MAS. We describe the challenges of small devices (including hardware choices and constraints) and the challenges of architecting the various elements (communications, service advertisement, policies).
