Abstract

Coated woven fabrics are used in a wide range of structural applications to provide lightweight, architecturally striking solutions. NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines) are a popular and versatile tool for curve and surface generation in computer aided design and animation applications. This paper investigates the use of NURBS for data fitting in the context of the non-linear biaxial tensile response of coated woven fabrics. The overall research aim is to develop response surfaces for fabric behaviour that are suitable for inclusion in structural design software.
