Abstract

The rapid development in portable computing plat-forms, distributed multimedia systems and wireless com-munication technologies has led to a significant interestin mobile multimedia and wireless networking. Video en-tertainment, and multimedia Internet access over wirelessnetworks are some examples of future wireless personalcommunication systems. These however incur challeng-ing technological issues. The synchronization of the mul-timedia objects among mobile clients is one of the mostimportant of these issues. The task of synchronization inwireless multimedia systems is to eliminate variations anddelays incurred during the transmission of multiple-mediastreams and maintain the temporal order among the vari-ous media streams. In this paper, we propose an efficientdistributed multimedia synchronization algorithm for wire-less and mobile multimedia systems to ensure and facilitatemobile clients' access to multimedia objects. We discussthe algorithm and provide its formal proof and correctness.
