Abstract

Eventhough conventional multistage switch architecturesuch as Banyan switch can support high speed capacity, butit still has high latency and is not scalable.Moreover, un-der non-uniform traffic, blocking occurs.Therefore,a newswitch architecture based on multi-dimensional crossbar(MDXB) switch is introduced, as a better solution. MDXBswitch is an interconnection among crossbar switches intomulti-dimension network.In this paper, we also proposea new node configuration and routing algorithm used inMDXB switch to achieve even lower packet loss rate.Thesimulation results shown that MDXB switch achieves muchhigher throughput under non-uniform traffic pattern.
