TCP/IP header compression has long been used to sendinformation efficiently and to improve the response time ofcommunication systems. It is also well known that errorson the link where header compression is used can dete-riorate the performance. In addition, the recently noticedhigh frequency of some computer networking problems canmake the performance of header compression even worse. These problems include packet reordering and packet er-rors that avoid link layer error detection. In this paper, weanalyze the influence of these problems on existing headercompression algorithms. We also propose an adaptiveheader compression that gives better perfor ance.
