Abstract

Mobile hosts utilize Mobile IP to retain connectivitywhile roaming in various networks, and acquire new IP addresses through the mechanisms Mobile IP supports. Today, one of the most demanding application requirements is QoSsupport. RSVP, the protocol implementation of the IETFIntegrated Services Architecture, cannot handle hosts thatchange their IP addresses amidst a connection lifetime, andthus, must re-establish any given reservation states. To overcome this limitation, we propose the adoptionof a mobility management scheme, that maintains a singlecontact IP address throughout the mobility session. Furthermore,we introduce RSV Mobility Proxy, an enhancedRSVP enabled border router to deal with QoS signaling atany mobility related network topology modification.
