Abstract

Abstract: Semistructured data is data that presents some regularity (it is not an image or plain text) but perhaps not as much as some relational data or some ODMG data (the standard of object databases). Such data is becoming increasingly important and, with XML, should become the standard for publishing data on the Web. With XML, the Web is turning into a worldwide, heterogeneous, distributed database. In this paper, we briefl y discuss typing and languages for semistructured data and some new issues arising from the context of data management on the Web.
