Software inspection is recognised as the most effectivemeans of finding defects. In spite of its important role insoftware development, existing capability models have notaddressed inspection issues or looked for inspection-related improvement activities to a sufficient extent. Theinspection-tailored capability model presented hereprovides a method for evaluating inspection processcapability and supports the location of weak points in acompany's inspection process. The first experimentsreported in the paper are promising, and the evaluationprocess discovered correctly focused improvement ideaswhich were also agreed on by the company concerned.
