In the Internet era, a challenging issue consists ofdefining viable solutions for integrating existingenterprise systems and making them accessible fromheterogeneous client devices by exploiting the commoninfrastructure offered by the Web.This paper presents an integration approach thatexploits black-box techniques for capturing thedynamic and static models of a legacy system userinterface, and reproducing them on client devices withthe support of a software wrapper. The wrapper isdesigned to satisfy service stability, data integration, and application integration requirements, and exploitsState Chart Diagrams and open standard technologies, such as XML and XSL. In the paper, a methodology fordesigning the wrapper is proposed, and a toolkit thatsupports the application of the methodology ispresented. An example of using the methodology forwrapping an existing system and exporting it to a webbrowser and a WAP mobile phone is, finally, discussed.
