Abstract

We present the concept of a distributed, web-basedelectronic design framework. The salient feature of oursystem is the extension of the client-server architecture totwo-tiers, with the web server serving client requestswhilst acting as client to the tool servers. In the sampleapplication of the framework, developed in Java, any ofthe servers can be based on Linux, MS Windows or Sun-SPARCserver. The web server that has been used todemonstrate the framework for on-line access to VAMS (aVHDL-AMS parser) and Avant! HSPICE is currentlyavailable for Linux but has been developed with a trulyplatform independent implementation in mind.
