Abstract

The paper presents a framework which is intended to embrace all forms of collaborative work. The framework's major elements are:I The collaboration purposes at the outset 2. The features in place before collaboration begins 3. The features which emerge during collaboration 4. The outcomes There appears to be a gap in the advice and theory available to business on the identification and solution of collaborative work problems. The paper reports on the development of the framework to remedy this problem. It discusses the use of the framework for future research and also for the use of organisations in the analysis of the effectiveness and efficiency of their existing collaborative work and as an evaluation tool for assessing the business impact of the use of new collaborative technologies and methodologies.
