Internet sellers need guaranteed payments forgoods and services. Buyers need protection frommisuse of their financial accounts. Credit cardsdominate the internet payment world, butmerchant fraud is rampant and cardholders arescared. This paper explores emerging protocolsand technologies that are being developed toeliminate card fraud and internet paymentmethods that will compete with credit cards.
