Lightweight Meeting Capture systems collect handwritten notes taken on Personal Digital Assistants during meetings and merge them into shared documents. We present results of a study in which we explored the benefits and pitfalls of such systems. In this study, we generated shared records for a group after three of their regular meetings. We found that most group members liked their regular minutes better when links to related information were added automatically. The study also provided guidance for future implementations of Lightweight Meeting Capture systems, which we use to evaluate several designs. (published September 10, 1998)
