BACK is a knowledge representation system following the terminological approach. The system has been under development at the Technical University of Berlin for over five years. This report describes the implementation of the currrent release of BACK. Compared with former system versions the additional functionality includes: (a) the support of terminological revision, made possible by the separation of user defined information from system derived information; (b) a tighter coupling of assertional and terminological reasoning in the recognition process; (c) enhanced conceptual indexing of knowledge base objects; and (d) the integration of non-terminological rules into the terminological component.
