SAMOS is an active-object oriented DBMS prototype implemented at the University of Zurich. It is now operational and thus is among the first demonstrable active object-oriented DBMSs. The beta-release of SAMOS, version 1.0 is available in the public domain. This manual gives you instructions for installing SAMOS on your site. It discuss the main features of SAMOS and shows step-by-step how SAMOS can be used for implementing active applications.
