Abstract

We developed an interactive visualization system thatsupports analysis and exploration of a large number ofindicators that characterize the attractivity of cities inSwitzerland. The application is available as a companionto a paper-based publication. This system is embedded in aconceptual framework of best practices in informationvisualization that we developed over the course of variouspast projects. It consists of several coordinated views thatare tightly integrated, and that successfully reveal the datain its complexity. We present the components of this system,describe design decisions on how to integrate them into anapplication, and provide details on innovative refinementsof various standard information visualization techniques.
