This paper describes a software engineeringsupport environment to facilitate software developmentand testing using globally distributed teams. Theconstruction of this support environment, known as theGWSE (Global Working in Software Engineering)system, has been based upon Lotus Notes, which hasprovided a flexible and extensible data repository.Software configuration management and projectmanagement facilities are incorporated into the GWSEsystem by integrating existing tools with the Notesrepository. The architecture and design of the GWSEsystem is presented, and a brief account of its use in aproject is given.
