Chautauqua is an exploratory workflow managementsystem designed and implemented within the CollaborationTechnology Research group (CTRG) at the Universityof Colorado. This system represents a tightlyknit merger of workflow technology and groupwaretechnology. Chautauqua has been in test usage at theUniversity of Colorado since 1995. This document discussesChautauqua - its motivation, its design, and itsimplementation. Our emphasis here is on its novel features,and the techniques for implementing these features.
