Abstract

The introduction of new information technology can bea rationale for reconsidering what digital productsorganisations produce and reconsidering how workshould be organised around the production of artefacts. In this article a pilot study covering three World WideWeb publishing cases is presented. Through a holisticview on documents, work and technology the threecases are described. The conclusion of the article is thatthe promises of digital documents are far from realisedin the organisations studied and that the productsprovided are traditionally founded. This can be related toa number of factors but the little involvement oftechnical skilled people, inappropriate tools anduncertainty on how WWW technology can beintegrated with the existing organisation are factorscontributing to the weak implementation of digitaldocuments.
