Active database management systems(ADBMS)uses Event-Condition-Action rules (ECA rules). EachECA rule specifies what action to be taken when anevent occurs and the specified condition is satisfied. Inthis paper, we introduce a concurrency control schemefor handling nested cooperative transactions using detached mode ECA rules of an ADBMS. A state transition model has been proposed to specify different kindsof nested cooperative transactions using detached modeECA rules. The correctness criterion for concurrentexecution of such nested cooperative transactions hasbeen stated formally. The problem of verification ofthe correct schedules and a concurrency control mechanism have also been dealt with.
