The introduction of a new currency in Europe haschanged the way of writing both the courtesy and thelegal amount on checks. This paper presents the mostimportant modifications brought on the bank-checkprocessing system in order to solve the related problemsalso by proposing the software tools that must be utilized.The Computer Aided Software Engineering tools providedby the "Khoros" system are used to support theimprovement of the system prototype. A visualprogramming environment is used to assemble the bank-checkprocessing system that can be easily modified andextended. The experimental results allow the adjournmentof the improved system, as the modifications areintroduced.
