Abstract

Interpretation of paper drawings has received a gooddeal of attention over the last decade. Progress has alsobeen made in related areas such as direct interpretationof human drawings (HCI), search and indexing of graphicsdatabases, and knowledge representation in the domainof graphics and drawing understanding. One of the mostinteresting applications in this domain is the analysis of semanticsin engineering drawings. We propose a structural modeling approach combinedwith a nondeterministic agent system to produce interpretationsof scanned images of CAD drawings. We allow abroad set of thresholds during the image analysis and showhow this large search space can be ef拢ciently pruned by takingadvantage of constraints from the model or speci拢c application.
