This paper presents annotations needed for handwrittenarchives document retrieval by content. We propose two complementaryways of producing those annotations : automaticallyby using optical document recognition and collectivelyby using Internet and a manual input by users. A platformfor managing those annotations is presented as well as examplesof automatic annotations on civil status registers, militaryforms (tested on 60,000 pages) and naturalization decrees, using a generic document recognition method. Examples ofcollective annotations built on automatic annotations are alsogiven.
