Abstract

Research in Content-Based Image Retrieval is anexpanding discipline with an accelerated growing in thelast ten years. Advances in telecommunications and thehuge demand of visual information on Internet andmobile devices is occupying the attention of theresearchers in developing efficient systems to ease thetask of useful visual information retrieval by the users. This work presents a semi-automatic image annotationprocess using the low-level image descriptor Fuzzy ColorSignature to extract the most similar images from anannotated database and frequent pattern mining to selectthe candidates keywords for annotating the new image. The idea is aimed at establishing a bridge between visualdata and their interpretation using a weak semanticapproach.
