Abstract

With recent advancements of technology, radiofrequencyablation has become one of the most used techniques totreat liver tumors. But radiologists still have to face thedifficulty of planning their treatment while only relying on2D slices acquired from CT-scan. We present in this papera tool called RF-Sim, being part of a complete 3D reconstructionand visualization project, and including botha realistic radiofrequency ablation simulator for trainingand rehearsal, and an automatic treatment planner takinginto account tumor's environment. They help radiologists tohave a better visualization of patients anatomic structuresand pathologies, and allow them to easily find an adequatetreatment. They run on a common laptop and can be usedin the operating room.
