Abstract

As part of the delivery an automated hub for a postaloperator, the Solystic company has to build a complexand feature rich Information System that supports ahighly automated process with multiple intricate sub-processesand exceptions. The effort has severalchallenges:驴 It is business critical for the customer, and theoutput of the project will give the customer a leadingposition;驴 It is the first time Solystic is managing a completesystem project, although its mother company NorthropGrumman had previous experience of this business;驴 The program is one of the first business of theSolystic company in the international field;驴 It is a fixed price, fixed time contract with a shorttime frame.To face all these challenges, the software developmentgroup in charge of the Information System has adopted anumber of agile practices and techniques to manage theproject. The major project settings are adapted fromAlistair Cockburn's Crystal set of methodologies, SCRUMand Jim Coplien's work on organizational patterns. Thispaper presents the findings and lessons learned by theteam and its manager.
