Abstract

The development of learning contents is a collaborativeprocess in which, users with different backgrounds, experiencesand points of view can take part. This is a two-stepprocess: first, a negotiation and evaluation of ideasamongst participants and second, composition of learningcontents as result of that negotiation. However the collaborativedevelopment support in current learning contentsauthoring tools is scarce, since they usually providea uni-personal vision of the creation process. This workpresents a multi-agent system for the collaborative authoringof Reusable Learning Objects (RLO), which key featuresare: (1) collaboration stakeholders are representedby agents; (2) agents message exchange is coordinated bymeans of a negotiation protocol; (3) agents rationality forproposal evaluation is modelled in terms of preference relationships;(4) a group of assistant agents trace all negotiationevents, so allowing the whole creation process to beaudited, whilst keeping a repository to control changes accomplishedinto the RLO corpus, thus allowing automatedconsolidation of negotiated results.
