The present paper addresses privacy issues in electronicaudio/video content distribution. It introduces an identity-basedrights distribution and management system thatenables users to access content anytime, anywhere, andon any device by means of authorization certificatesissued by a content provider. These certificates openlylink the identity of the users to the content that they areentitled to access. This fact, together with the availabilityof the certificates everywhere in the network, raises userprivacy issues. A solution is proposed which deals withthese issues and still allows the device to securely checkthe user's entitlement to the content.
