Abstract

In this work we are interested with memory managementfor the execution of multiple BLAST processes. It is usuallyassumed that there is a large main memory available so thatDBMS services are not considered. In general, the underlyingoperating system is responsible for all data manipulations,including page replacement policies. We present herea memory management policy, together with implementationissues, that may improve considerably the performanceof simultaneous BLAST executions.
