Abstract

Nowadays, path prediction is being extensively examinedfor use in the context of mobile and wireless computingtowards more efficient network resource managementschemes. Path prediction allows the network and servicesto further enhance the quality of service levels that the userenjoys. In this paper we present a path prediction algorithmthat exploits the machine learning algorithm oflearning automata. The decision of the learning automatonis driver by the movement patterns of a single user but isalso affected by the aggregated patterns demonstrated byall users. Simulations of the algorithm, performed using aRealistic Mobility Pattern Generator, show increased predictionaccuracy.
