A lot of work has been done on routing in MANETs. However, theproposed routing solutions deal only with the best effort data traffic. Connectionswith Quality of Service (QoS) requirements are not supported. The QoS routing has been receiving increasingly intensive attention in thewireline network domain. However, for MANETs are proposed only fewQoS routing algorithms. For MANETs, approximatedsolutions and heuristicalgorithms should be developed and QoS routing algorithms shouldbe adaptive, flexible, and intelligent. In this paper, we propose a GeneticAlgorithm (GA) based routing method for Mobile Ad-hoc Networks(GAMAN). Robustness rather than optimality is the primary concern ofGAMAN. The GAMAN uses two QoS parameters for routing. The performanceevaluation via simulations show that GAMAN is a promising QoSrouting algorithm for MANETs.
