Abstract

The proposed specification method denoted as hierarchicalCoDesign Model allows a hierarchical system levelspecification of distributed embedded systems includingboth definition and reuse of IP cores. Input/Output Relationsare introduced as a very general and powerful meansof encapsulating internal implementation details and of describingdata as well as control flow information on differentlevels of abstraction. Two novel algorithms are proposed, which allow to derive dynamically task descriptionsfor the IP encapsulation as well as flat specification modelsfor design space exploration on different levels of detail. This reduces considerably the descriptive complexityof specifications and therewith the execution times of synthesisand design space exploration algorithms.
