Abstract

In the 21st century, social infrastructures, such aseconomic systems, transportation systems andgovernmental service systems, are redesigned andreconstructed based on information technologies. Inthis paper, basic information technologies of the newsocial infrastructures are proposed. The PersonalIdentifier (PID) system for bidirectionalauthentication and an RFID tag system will playimportant roles in the new social infrastructures.Using PID and RFID tag, we can bridge a gap betweenthe real world and the virtual world on computersautomatically. We call the society, in which allpersons and goods have their own digital names andrecognizable both in the real and virtual world,"Digitally Named World". The systems requiretechnologies of SoC, networking, security andsoftware. Technical challenges and socialrequirements for the new technologies are presented.
