Abstract

The paper describes a Corba components based servicedevelopment environment and reports important lessonslearned from service design, implementation and usage. Adeclared project goal was to evaluate service programmability, speed and flexibility in the creation of complexservices based on simple building blocks. We implemented an OSA/Parlay gateway with a Parlaycall control interface to control a SIP Proxy. A ParlayFramework performs registration, trust and security, discovery, service agreement management, service profilingand subscription tasks. The software is implemented inJava using Corba components (CCM).User profiling and service chaining possibilities are extensivelyused in a complex scenario including externalvoice server, web based groupware and call setup functionalityprovided via Parlay APIs.
