Abstract

We present a practical approach to the design of aWeb system for 3D and volumetric data interrogation andvisualization. This Web application provides differentfunctionalities including isosurface extraction, meshsimplification, output file production in a standardformat, and data compression. The application isdesigned in a modular way, and its services are suitablefor heterogeneous clients, including wireless and disklessPersonal Digital Assistant. The use, as much as possible,of widely available public domain software and standarddata format are important characteristics of the presentedarchitecture.
